Each Thursday afternoon, if there is a film showing that the group would like to see.

One of two cinemas in islington.

The Current Film Group sees films at several of our local cinemas: Hackney Picturehouse, Islington Vue and Holloway Odeon. All the cinemas have several screens, a good range of films to choose from and are well served by public transport.

Hackney Picturehouse has a  Silver Screen Club for the over 60s entitling you to a free tea or coffee and biscuit and a reduction in the ticket price. You can join at the Box Office where you buy the tickets. We are able to meet to discuss the picture in a discussion space adjoining the cafe.

At Islington Vue, the discussion is usually at the Angelic pub on Liverpool Road which serves tea and coffee as well as other beverages. And the Holloway Odeon has a large space we are able to commandeer for our post film discussions.

Members are notified of the location and time of the week's film every week by email. .
We try to pick the best and most interesting films available on any given week but there is no obligation to attend.

We would ask you to let us know if you are coming so we can wait for you.
This year the group has seen a wide range of films including McQueen,The Happy Prince, In the Fade, Leave No Trace, Swimming with Men, First Reformed and Mamma Mia 2 "
