OPERA VISITS

Dianne EwinThe purpose of the group is to share the enjoyment of opera and learn more about opera through visits to live and screened operas.

Group Coordinator: Dianne Ewin (click to contact)
When

We normally visit the opera about once a month and meet, usually about 10 days before the visit on Monday morning, where a knowledgeable group member gives us an introduction to the opera.
Where

Various venues, locally and in town.

The programme is dependent on what opera is available. We try to mix the programme seeing screened performances of large opera companies usually at the Vue Islington; live opera at Hackney Empire or in town and at some smaller venues offering very small opera companies such as OperaUpClose. Each outing offers a different operatic experience but it is great sharing it with people who enjoy opera and want to learn more. Before each opera outing a member of the group talks about the opera we are about to see. This increases our enjoyment of the opera.
